The vast majority of the jewelry in the store is handcrafted and designed by Filis.  Each piece is designed with care and special attention to detail.  Filis incorporates a heart of various sizes to each piece as her signature touch.  Only the finest stones, pearls, crystals and silver available are used in her pieces.  Sterling silver is most often used in many pieces as clasps and part of the design throughout a piece.

Filis can custom make jewelry upon request.  Ranging from a variety of earing styles, including clip on earings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, bookmarks; just a wide variety of one-of-a kind fashionable accessories.

Each piece of jewelry includes a written description of the meaning of the stones.

Jon Workman is a local artist and friend who’s work has been on display in our store almost since we opened.  Jon grew up in Blufton and has an intimate history with all things lakeside.  His Sand docks, Channel, Lighthouse and Muskegon Lake perspectives belies a lifetime relationship.   He has a poetic sense of movement and style that comes through in a variety of mediums.   He is a true local talent and if you appreciate art you need to have a Jon Workman in your collection.

The performing arts have always been a central  theme in my paintings and sculpture. My acrylic work deals with natural scenes transformed into abstract.  As a working artist I have realized what a wonderful space one’s art can take you to.  At times a work in progress can be frustrating and chaotic but at the same time offer a great deal of joy and contentment.

It is a path in life where each morning begins with the creative process and I feel very fortunate .  CHEERS!!

Penney Smaardyk

This is Penney’s bio. She will be one of the featured artists at our Sun Wind and Rain event on July 25th.

“My husband Jim and I with our two Golden Retrievers moved to Muskegon in December of 2006. We chose Muskegon as our place to retire, with the lakes, beaches and our 11 acres to roam. The area has so many things to offer, tremendous fishing for Jim and great subject matter for me to paint.

I have always done Art in some form or another from Drawing to Oil Painting. Five years ago while living at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. I began to take on Watercolor. In 2005 we moved to Des Moines, Iowa where I was able to take many Watercolor Classes. Last November I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to take a Workshop with Nationally Renowned Artist Mary Whyte. I have admired Mary for several years and to take her workshop was a great privilege for me as well as encouraging.

I had the pleasure May thru June to display some of my work at the Betty Clark Gannon Gallery.Watercolor has been one of the most challenging mediums I have worked with but also the most fun. Every painting has been a new experience leading me to the next. It has become my true passion.”
